Call for a crackdown on toxic coal pollution!

The National Pollution Inventory (NPI) has just released the figures on annual pollution in Australia and it paints an ugly picture.

State governments are letting coal-fired power stations pump out as much as 20 times more toxic air pollution than other countries allow.

Without adequate pollution controls, coal-fired power stations emit dangerous levels of toxic fine particle pollutants like mercury, nitrogen and sulfur dioxide that cause severe health impacts and premature deaths.

In NSW alone, 279 people die each year as a result of breathing in toxic pollutants from coal-fired stations.

State environment ministers could, at the stroke of a pen, reduce toxic air pollution by at least 85% by requiring coal-burning generators to install best practice pollution controls.

Will you demand state environment ministers take action on pollution control and improve the health outcomes for thousands of Australians?
